Australia–Indonesia Education Stakeholder Engagement Meeting highlights Global Competence through School Partnerships
On 17 June 2025, Asialink Education held the annual Education Stakeholder Engagement Meeting (ESEM). Hosted by the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, the event brought together over 40 educators, government representatives, and alumni of the Australia–Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program to celebrate the Program’s impact and explore future directions.

Held under the theme “Building Global Competence through School Partnerships and Pedagogies”, the event showcased how school collaborations between Indonesia and Australia are equipping students with essential global competencies and addressing challenges like gender equality, disability inclusion, and climate change.
Keynote addresses were delivered by Dr. Gogot Suharwoto, Director General of Early Childhood, Primaryand Secondary Education, who underscored education’s role in shaping future-ready students, and Dr. Olivia Rombot of BINUS University, who discussed the impact of AI on teaching and learning.


Cross-Cutting Case Studies
Educators from BRIDGE partner schools shared powerful stories of collaboration, including gender equality programs from SMAN 1 Jepara and Sunshine Beach State High School, inclusive education initiatives from MI Mutiara Bunda and Our Lady Star of the Sea, and climate-focused projects by SMPN 20 Singkawang and St Mary’s College. BRIDGE alumni also reflected on how their exchange experiences shaped their careers and commitment to global citizenship.

“As this event showed, BRIDGE is not just about school partnerships, it’s about empowering future leaders with the empathy and skills to make a difference,” said Sarah Richardson, Executive Director of Asialink Education.
Government officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Education Offices in 18 provinces actively engaged in the event and have since requested BRIDGE to conduct information sessions in their respective
regions.
