BRIDGE Collaborative Project Grants

The Australia–Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program offers grant opportunities that enable Australian and Indonesian partner schools to deepen collaboration, strengthen educator engagement and support meaningful learning experiences for students. All grant‑supported projects are aligned to DFAT priorities of gender equality, disability inclusion, social inclusion and climate change through partnership‑led collaboration.

Darwin Languages Centre (Darwin, Northern Territory) and SDK Citra Bangsa Mandiri (Banyumas Regency, Central Java) (2024 BRIDGE School)

Darwin Languages Centre and SDK Citra Bangsa Mandiri are collaborating on a creative global classroom project focused on inclusion, culture and sustainability. Students will take part in a GEDSI‑themed comic competition exploring gender equality, disability and climate action. They will also participate in batik tie‑dye workshops using natural dyes, linking traditional cultural practice with environmental awareness. Teachers will collaborate online to co‑design lessons and strengthen project‑based, intercultural teaching across both schools.

Aitken College (Melbourne, VIC) & SMAN 54 Jakarta, DKI Jakarta) (2023 BRIDGE School)

Aitken College and SMAN 54 Jakarta are working together on a collaborative urban farming project focused on sustainability and food security. Students will design and maintain a small urban food garden and share their learning through videos, photographs and virtual exchanges. They will compare climate conditions, growing practices and food cultures while documenting progress in a shared digital book. The project supports hands‑on climate learning, authentic communication and teacher development in digital pedagogy and global classroom collaboration.

Girraween Primary School (Darwin, Northern Territory) & MINU KH Mukmin (Sidoarjo Regency, East Java) (2024 BRIDGE School)

Girraween Primary School and MINU KH Mukmin are strengthening inclusive education and sustainability through shared learning spaces and global classroom collaboration. The partnership will establish a sensory learning room to support students with additional needs and develop an Indonesian‑inspired tropical fruit garden as a living classroom. Students will collaborate through digital exchanges, research local plants and share sustainability practices. Teachers will work together to embed inclusive strategies, digital pedagogy and intercultural learning into everyday practice.

Lara Secondary College (Melbourne, Victoria) and SMPN 6 Langke Rembong (Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara) (2024 BRIDGE School)

Lara Secondary College and SMPN 6 Langke Rembong are collaborating on a professional learning project focused on inclusive education. An Australian teacher will deliver workshops on Student Snapshots, Individual Education Plans and classroom strategies to support diverse learners. Teachers will also share resources and approaches to student engagement and self‑regulation. Alongside professional exchange, students will collaborate through digital language learning activities, strengthening intercultural understanding and supporting a sustainable BRIDGE partnership beyond the grant period.

Franklin Primary School (Franklin, Tasmania) & Latrobe High School (Latrobe, Tasmania) with SD Islam Kreatif Mutiara Anak Sholeh (Sidoarjo Regency, East Java) & SMP Laboratorium UM (Malang City, East Java) (2024 BRIDGE School)

Franklin Primary School and Latrobe High School are working jointly with partner schools in Indonesia to deliver inclusive global learning focused on sustainability, innovation and GEDSI. Students will collaborate on inquiry projects exploring climate‑responsive design, sustainable materials and simple technologies, sharing learning through virtual exchanges. Indonesian teachers will participate in a professional learning visit to Tasmania, engaging in classroom observation, joint planning and dialogue on inclusive education, strengthening teacher capability and long‑term collaboration across both partnerships.

BRIDGE Collaborative Projects

The BRIDGE Collaborative Projects Grant supports partnerships in developing and facilitating global classroom programs that focus on:

Student engagement through peer collaboration and digital pedagogy or;
Professional learning with partner schools emphasising Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and Climate Change

Grant value: AUD $5,000 per partnership

How to apply:
The BRIDGE Collaborative Projects Grants are advertised annually through an online application process. All schools with BRIDGE alumni that have sustained a relationship with their partner school are eligible to apply. Applications for 2026 have closed. Applications for 2027 open at the end of the year.
