Australian Teachers Visit Indonesia for Cultural Immersion and Professional Learning
The Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program continues to build valuable intercultural connections between students, teachers, and schools. In 2024 Franklin Primary School, Evandale Primary School, and Latrobe High School from Tasmania were selected to participate in BRIDGE, strengthening education connections between Tasmania and Indonesia.
During the school visit program in November 2024, each school hosted two Indonesian educators for five days providing the opportunity to learn with and from each other.
Franklin Primary School hosted Vivi and Sifa, from SD Islam Kreatif Mutiara Anak Sholeh. Vivi and Sifa had the opportunity to experience the schools' educational practices, observe classrooms, and engage with students and teachers. They learned about learning and teaching practicesand shared insights from their experiences in Indonesia.
This partnership has developed meaningful connections between Franklin Primary and SD Islam Kreatif Mutiara Anak Sholeh, laying the foundation for ongoing collaboration. As part of this partnership, staff from Franklin Primary School team will visit Indonesia in April 2025 to further strengthen the partnership and continue the exchange of ideas and practices.
Vivi, one of the visiting educators from SD Islam Kreatif Mutiara Anak Sholeh, shared her thoughts on the experience: “This visit has been an eye-opening experience for me. I have learned so much about Australian teaching methods, and it’s inspiring to see how different educational practices can support student development. The connections we have made with Franklin Primary School will stay with us for years to come, and I’m excited to continue working together.”
The benefits of the BRIDGE Program extend beyond the classroom, fostering lasting friendships and a deeper cultural understanding. By encouraging global collaboration, the program enhances teaching and learning for both Australian and Indonesian educators.
